LISBON - Rotary International Convention Trip 2013

Those not attending the Rotary meetings can enjoy optional tours in and near Lisbon.  There will be three group dinners, one with a theater show.

Lisbon package with air: $3325.  A land only package is also available for $1509.  Prices are based on double occupancy.  Single rooms have an additional fee.

Some Questions Received on this Package compared to the Thailand trip:

Why is this package more for a shorter trip than the one to the Bangkok Convention?  Air fare to Europe is higher than to Thailand.  Taxes and security fees are more than double that of flying to Asia.  Bus fees are higher.  Hotel rooms are in shorter supply than in Bangkok and therefore carry a higher price.

I just looked on the Gate 1 web site and they have trips to Spain and Portugal for less for about the same amount of time.  Why is this one more?   The convention is occurring during the start of the peak tourist season in Europe.  With the Rotary Convention already well known, many hotels have nearly sold out or have their rooms placed into reservation blocks more than a year in advance, thus creating higher prices for the week of the convention compared to going there at the same time this year.
