THE ADDISON ROTARY CLUB PRESENTS A $200,000 CHECK TO RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE OF DALLAS

Thursday, October 9, members of The Addison Rotary Club, presented to Ronald McDonald House of Dallas (RMHD) a check in the amount of $200,000—the proceeds from the club’s annual golf outing held yearly since 1990. Now in its 24th year, the Addison Rotary Open (ARO) took place at Gleneagles Country Club on September 8, 2014; approximately 225 golfers made the event a competitive and fun day. Since 2010, The Addison Rotary Club and its foundation, the Addison Rotary Foundation, has raised more than $1 million for the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas and is the charity’s second largest annual fundraiser. 2014 ARO Chair, Lance Pendley says, “The most amazing part of this story is that The Addison Rotary is a relatively small club with about 45 members which means that each member has raised approximately $22,000 over the past 5 years.” Since the operational cost of a night’s stay at RMHD is $125, it is estimated that the ARO has raised funds to pay for over 8,000 nights at the House with the $1 million raised.

Many sponsors of this event have been involved since the tournament’s inception. For the fourth consecutive year, GLM DFW Inc., has been the tournament’s Presenting Sponsor and has committed to sponsor again in 2015. Says GLM DFW Inc. owner Mary Galvan, “We appreciate the Addison Rotary for the important work they do supporting Ronald McDonald House of Dallas which provides such wonderful care to families with ill or injured children. All of us do our part to make a difference for these families, that’s what keeps us coming back”. The 2015 event is scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2015 at Gleneagles Country Club. The check presentation event took place the evening of Thursday, October 9 at RMHD and was attended by members of the Addison Rotary, RMHD board members and sponsors.
