The Rotary Clubs of Plano have announced Saturday, Dec. 14 as the date of the 2024 Plano holiday parade. Even more exciting, Olympic Gold Medal gymnast and Plano resident Hezly Rivera will make a special appearance in the parade as the Holiday Spirit Ambassador.
At the age of 16, Hezly represented the United States this summer at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. Not only was she the youngest member of the gold medal-winning team, but she was the youngest athlete across the entire U.S delegation.

All Planoites are invited to come out and cheer on Plano’s high school marching bands, drill teams and color guards performing in the parade alongside festive floats from local businesses, nonprofit organizations and clubs. Topping off the magical afternoon will be an appearance from Santa.

“The Plano holiday parade is a wonderful event for people of all ages, and a fun way to celebrate the season with friends and family while connecting with neighbors in the community. This event fosters a sense of hometown pride, encouraging residents to support local businesses not only during the parade but year-round,” said Lisa Bloomer, parade co-chair and member of Plano East Rotary Club.

The theme of the parade this year is “Candy Wonderland.” The parade will begin at 2:00 p.m. It will start in Downtown Plano on 19th Street at M Avenue, head west on 19th Street, turn south on K Avenue, east on 15th Street, north on M Avenue, and end at 18th Street.

The event is funded in part by the City of Plano, and is organized by members from all of the Rotary Clubs of Plano.

“Rotary clubs bring together people from all walks of life who are passionate about community service and making a difference. By attending the attending the parade, you are also supporting local efforts that give back to our community. Funds raised from the Plano holiday parade go directly toward supporting community initiatives led by the Rotary Clubs of Plano,” said Liz Lansing, parade co-chair and member of North Texas Pioneers Rotary Club.

Rotarians from any club are invited to volunteer for the parade by signing up at rotaryparadesofplano.com. Sponsorship opportunities are also available on the website.
