I am pleased to announce that the Selection Committee picked Mary Bedosky, Richardson East Rotary Club, as the District Governor Nominee Designate. There were no subsequent challenges. She will be District Governor in Rotary Year 2025-26.

Win an entry for the District 5810 Cruise Raffle!! The District is giving away one room for the cruise on April 23 – 30, 2022. Winner will be announced in January. Each month (Oct-Dec), Clubs will have an opportunity to earn an entry to the raffle. To earn a raffle ticket in December, Clubs and individuals must make a donation to the Rotary Foundation.
The Plano holiday parade is back! On hiatus since 2020, the parade will take place on Saturday, December 10, and will be returning to its former home of Downtown Plano where many longtime Planoites remember watching the parade as children.
On Saturday, November. 12, from 9 to Noon, Park Cities Rotary held a Foot Care Clinic at the Salvation Army’s Austin Street Center. Organized by member Holly Hollenbeck, club members with the assistance of Nursing student volunteers from Texas Woman’s University, Scheels Sporting Goods, and Soles for Souls, served almost 150 homeless people. They had their feet washed and were provided foot and diabetes health checks, a foot care kit and new socks and shoes.
For the fifth year on Veteran’s Day (taking a break in 2020 for COVID), Rockwall Rotarian Dr. Stan Lowrance has given of his time and talents, along with those of his entire dental staff, and 30 additional volunteers—all to benefit veterans’ dental health.
The Mesquite Rotary Club presented a donation of $3,000 to the Mesquite Association of Retired School Employees book project at their meeting on November 29th
In September, Plano West Rotary Club welcomed Olivia, a Rotary Youth Exchange student from the Provence region of France. Rotary Youth Exchange is a program where students ages 15-19 who are leaders in their schools and communities are sponsored by Rotary clubs in more than 100 different countries to travel and live abroad for one academic year. Students learn a new language, discover another culture, and truly become global citizens.
October 24th the Rotary Club of Dallas hosted their Pints for Polio event at the Manhattan Project Beer Co. that attracted 30 members and nonmembers from 5 different countries to raise funds for the Rotary International End Polio Fund. The donations of the attendees combined with the generosity of a dozen sponsors to generate funds that will be matched 2:1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
On a cold chilly day in November, Preston Hollow Rotary Club installed its first outdoor library. This is a sharing library at Bachman Lake where children can play and come read a book. With the help of 12 individuals, the library was installed in just an hour.. This library is full of children’s books.
Other members and children helped too. Sometimes it takes two to hold the auger.
Angel Wygant from the Wylie East Rotary Club wanted to raise money to buy new equipment for the Wylie Police Department's youth enrichment program. Now this is thinking outside the box! Check out this fundraising idea she developed:
Coppell Rotary and Coppell High School Football partnered for a successful Military Appreciation Night in October. Rotary supplied a flag for each player to enter the field and to hold for the Pledge of Allegiance. Spectators held their breaths at the sight of the football field awash with Old Glory.
AMRC has received a donation of 400 copies of Author Michelle Staubach Grimes' book "Pidge Takes the Stage". These books will be given to our Rotary District 5810 to support the District's International Global Grant Project supporting education in Roatan, Honduras and Cozumel, Mexico.
Grand Prairie Metro Rotary Club joined with the South Grand Prairie High School Interact Club and others for the recent Rise Against Hunger event at First United Methodist Church in Grand Prairie. The group was able to package more than 10,000 meals in an hour!
On Saturday, Nov. 19 volunteers from Plano West Rotary Club (PWRC) continued their support of Bed Start, a Plano nonprofit that provides beds and other large household furnishings free of cost to individuals in financial crisis. These individuals are often single mothers, military veterans, international refugees, and victims of domestic violence.
