The picture with this letter is of me with a man named Chris who noticed our Rotary branded clothes and walked up to our table at Landon Winery. (Yes, I was having pizza and a beverage with some members of the Coppell Club.) He told us that Rotary changed his life.
On October 24, World Polio Day, Rotary will join partners, health workers, survivors, and advocates to reaffirm our promise to the world’s children: polio eradication is possible—and it’s a promise we will keep. A RYLA Alumni Fundraising committee is hard at work to make the most of North Texas Giving Day (NTXGD), coming up on September 18th. NTXGD is a massive regional campaign to raise funds for hundreds of local non-profits, and for the last several years, RYLA 5810 has participated to raise funds to help continue all the on-going district RYLA programs that extend beyond Camp RYLA and throughout the year.

On Thursday, July 31st at 3:00 p.m., the DeSoto Area Chamber of Commerce proudly hosted the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Creations by Xochitl Hernandez, LLC, a blossoming small, local community business founded by 13-year-old Latina artist and entrepreneur Isabella Xochitl Hernandez. The event was a powerful testament to youth entrepreneurship, community pride, and the vibrant spirit of DeSoto Texas Rotary.
The Rotary Club of Terrell held a successful fundraiser at Film Alley in Terrell on July 31st, bowling our way to donations for the Terrell ISD Teacher Shop. Rotarians, business owners, and community members participated.
The Melissa Chamber of Commerce recognized the Melissa Rotary club for their support of the Chamber city wide Heart of Mellissa events. The Rotary Club has helped with vendor set up and parking control for the past three years enabling the event to grow to well over 3,000 to 5,000 participants.
This week, the Plano West Rotary Club traded our usual meeting agenda for something far more colorful and sweet. We rolled up our sleeves, opened boxes of cake mix, and set out bright decorations with one mission in mind: to make sure a child’s birthday never passes unnoticed.
McKinney High School Interact Club kicked off the year with their annual service project: Chalk the Walk. The night before students returned to school, MHS Interactors gathered to write inspiring and motivational chalk messages on the pavement in front of McKinney High.
Envision Dallas is empowering the blind through opportunity and inclusion. Rotary E-Club of North Texas helped create a fun, inclusive experience by assisting players with cards, numbers, and prizes. Their time made someone's day brighter!
The Rotary Parades of Plano organizing committee, comprised of members from Plano-area Rotary Clubs, is proud to support our local nonprofits. With a portion of the proceeds from registration fees and sponsorships of the Plano parades, the committee made three donations in August of $1,000 each to organizations positively impacting Plano residents through Rotary’s areas of focus.

Getting kids back-to-school ready: Rockwall Rotary Club recently served at the annual Rockwall Back-toSchool Bash/Shoes for Kids event. The annual event provides shoes, school supplies, vaccination and more for those in need across the county.
Members of McKinney North High School Interact volunteered at the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary helping to pick up litter on the Sycamore Trail. McKinney North Interact is sponsored by McKinney Sunrise Rotary and these students participate regularly in service projects and helping with our Flag Program.
North Texas Pioneers has been honored to work with Emily’s Place, a home for abused families, on several Easter egg hunts, and other projects. All of the Plano Rotary Clubs provided volunteers who helped the city with the 4th of July parade. Because of their service to the City Rotary was able to donate $1000 to Emily’s place…. A very deserving organization.
Coppell Rotary is proud to see the Spirit of Rotary carried forward by our youth. Recent Coppell High School graduate Mihir Kabbur—President of the 2023–24 Interact Club, scholarship recipient, and now a student at UT-Austin—continues to spread Rotary values wherever he goes. From Panama to his latest stop in Mysore, India, Mihir is making an impact.

On August 18 members of White Rock Rotary Club welcomed three visitors to their Monday morning breakfast meeting. Our AG John Johnstone dropped in to eat and have fun with us early in the new action year as we conducted our usual business of serving our community.
