DG Max Duplant's September Message
Welcome to September, Rotary Literacy month.  
We are making plans to hear about one of our Literacy Global Grants at the next Roundtable on September 18.  Speaking of which, we will also have all the District awards available for those who were not able to attend the Award banquet in August.
Selection for 2023-24 Rotary President

Gordon R. McInally, a member of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry, Lothian, Scotland, is the selection of the Nominating Committee for President of Rotary International for 2023-24. He will be declared the president-nominee on 1 October if no challenging candidates have been suggested.

McInally lauded Rotary’s ability to adapt technologically during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying the approach should continue and be combined with the best of our past practices as Rotary seeks to grow and increase engagement.

New Rotary Year, New Public Image Challenge
We are excited to announce the rollout of our new PUBLIC IMAGE CHAMPION GAMES! The Public Image Games wwere designed to help Clubs increase their public image skill set. The more you promote your Club, the better the odds are at increasing your membership. It is a win-win all around! 
Get Ready for World Polio Day
Take action for World Polio Day on 24 October by promoting awareness of Rotary’s polio eradication efforts, raising funds, and planning club events. Let’s engage our communities in the fight against polio, because as long as polio exists anywhere, it remains a threat everywhere. Check out our World Polio Day event page for resources, graphics and fundraising ideas.

August District Roundtable Recap

Plano's West Rotary's Avenue K Clean Up keeps Plano Clean and Beautiful 
On July 31, a team of seven volunteers from Plano West Rotary Club, led by project leader Glen Thornton, collected trash along K Avenue from Spring Creek Parkway to Parker Road in Plano.
"Service About Self" Teacher Awards
The Rotary Club of Dallas honored three DISD teachers as Teachers of the Year on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, during the club’s noon meeting at the Park Cities Club, 5956 Sherry Lane Suite 1700.
How To Help Hati Earthquake Victims
A group of well experienced Disaster Relief Rotarians have once again come together to organize relief supplies, medical assistance, shelter and other necessary commodities for people in Southern Haiti to survive and rebuild after the August 14th earthquake.  Haiti is part of Rotary District 7020 which includes 10 countries and 16 islands in the Northern Caribbean.
Rotary Community Corps. Provides Resources to Underserved Communities  
As rallies for racial justice happened throughout the U.S. in the summer of 2020, members of Plano West Rotary Club (PWRC) located in Plano, Texas felt compelled to find a COVID-safe way to help create equity for the Black community as well as get more Black citizens involved in Rotary’s efforts.
Victorian Fencing Society Demonstration
Because we have spent so much time apart the Dallas Rotary Club is inviting ALL Rotarians (and potential Rotarians) in District 5810 to come and enjoy a Fencing demonstration at our Luncheon on September 22, 2021.  The event will occur at the Park City Club. (near Tollway and NW Highway).
Greenville Daybreak Foundation Donation
Chart members , Beverly Loss and her husband of the Greenville Daybreak Rotary Club both passed away this past year. Their estate sent a donation in the amount of $10,000 to the Foundation and the Club presented that check to the Governor while she was here.  
September Membership Minute
Reach out to DMC Holly Hollenbeck for a Club Program on Membership @ or 402-682-0601. Online learn about strategies for attracting new members in this online course in the Learning Center. (A “My Rotary” account is required and easy to set up.) The course highlights ways to interest prospective members and showcase your club’s strengths. 
Plano West Rotary wrapped up Aug 3, Providing 95,312 meals for Plano ISD students
A healthier and better educated population leads to growth in local economies. And this can begin with something as simple as a free, healthy lunch.

50 Years Perfect Attendance
Past-District Governor of District 5810 – Judge Nathan White celebrated fifty years of perfect Rotary attendance from 1971 through 2021. In addition, his Rotary club – the Rotary Club of McKinney Sunrise, recently acknowledged at their breakfast meeting the exceptional achievement.
Salute to America's Veterans 2021
The Rotary Club of Dallas hosted a Kick-Off Salute to America’s Veterans 2021 program on July 28th , attended by our beneficiary partners the USO DFW and the GW Bush Institute Military Service Initiative.
Busy August for Rowlett
Rowlett Rotary wanted to Congratulate three extraordinary people. Jami Dooley winner of $1000.00 scholarship going to Tabor College out of Kansas in the Fall.

De Soto Rotary Club's Leadership Participates and Donates to Back to School Give Away
The DeSoto Rotary Club partnered with Girlfriends PAC Ministries, a local non-profit organization run by Patricia Coleman (Center), to give away school supplies to over 250 students on the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts, DeSoto, TX on August 07, 2021.
School Dictionaries
Melissa Rotary Club delivered 125 picture dictionaries in August to the new Elementary school of Willow Wood.

The Rotary Club of Coppell’s Flag Program is so popular that flags are literally flying out of the window!
Carrollton-Farmers Branch Rotary Toliet Paper Drive
CFB Rotary is supporting Metrocrest Services' "2021 Great Toilet Paper Drive" for National Toilet Paper Day. Metrocrest Services' goal is to collect 100,000 rolls of toilet paper—approximately a year's supply for the pantry to help our needy neighbors. 
Cookies for Cops Service Project
The first week of August, the Rotary Club of Dallas completed our first service project for the new club year – Cookies for (Dallas) Cops with 30 members participating. Home baked and donated cookies were collected and then repackaged, following all COVID safety protocols, into bags of three. Each bag was sealed and labeled.

Employees in the Park Cities
The Town of Highland Park and the City of University Park each have their own Police Departments, Fire Departments and an array of public service workers that keep our communities functioning. Some are long-term employees and all are dedicated to their work.
