We are making plans to hear about one of our Literacy Global Grants at the next Roundtable on September 18. Speaking of which, we will also have all the District awards available for those who were not able to attend the Award banquet in August.
Gordon R. McInally, a member of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry, Lothian, Scotland, is the selection of the Nominating Committee for President of Rotary International for 2023-24. He will be declared the president-nominee on 1 October if no challenging candidates have been suggested.
McInally lauded Rotary’s ability to adapt technologically during the COVID-19 pandemic, saying the approach should continue and be combined with the best of our past practices as Rotary seeks to grow and increase engagement.

On July 31, a team of seven volunteers from Plano West Rotary Club, led by project leader Glen Thornton, collected trash along K Avenue from Spring Creek Parkway to Parker Road in Plano.

A group of well experienced Disaster Relief Rotarians have once again come together to organize relief supplies, medical assistance, shelter and other necessary commodities for people in Southern Haiti to survive and rebuild after the August 14th earthquake. Haiti is part of Rotary District 7020 which includes 10 countries and 16 islands in the Northern Caribbean.
As rallies for racial justice happened throughout the U.S. in the summer of 2020, members of Plano West Rotary Club (PWRC) located in Plano, Texas felt compelled to find a COVID-safe way to help create equity for the Black community as well as get more Black citizens involved in Rotary’s efforts.

Chart members , Beverly Loss and her husband of the Greenville Daybreak Rotary Club both passed away this past year. Their estate sent a donation in the amount of $10,000 to the Foundation and the Club presented that check to the Governor while she was here.

Past-District Governor of District 5810 – Judge Nathan White celebrated fifty years of perfect Rotary attendance from 1971 through 2021. In addition, his Rotary club – the Rotary Club of McKinney Sunrise, recently acknowledged at their breakfast meeting the exceptional achievement.

The DeSoto Rotary Club partnered with Girlfriends PAC Ministries, a local non-profit organization run by Patricia Coleman (Center), to give away school supplies to over 250 students on the parking lot of Dunkin Donuts, DeSoto, TX on August 07, 2021.
CFB Rotary is supporting Metrocrest Services' "2021 Great Toilet Paper Drive" for National Toilet Paper Day. Metrocrest Services' goal is to collect 100,000 rolls of toilet paper—approximately a year's supply for the pantry to help our needy neighbors.
The first week of August, the Rotary Club of Dallas completed our first service project for the new club year – Cookies for (Dallas) Cops with 30 members participating. Home baked and donated cookies were collected and then repackaged, following all COVID safety protocols, into bags of three. Each bag was sealed and labeled.
The Town of Highland Park and the City of University Park each have their own Police Departments, Fire Departments and an array of public service workers that keep our communities functioning. Some are long-term employees and all are dedicated to their work.
