Greetings from Singapore and the Rotary International Convention! As I write it is about to get started with an awesome opening ceremony. Rotary is celebrating the great year we have had. And we, as Rotarians of the District, do have much to celebrate for our year. We grew our membership, we gave joyfully to our foundation, we gave heartily to eradicate polio, we responded to devastating fires in Maui and the Texas Panhandle, and we lived our Rotary value, Service Above Self.

A team of Mesquite Rotary Club members worked side-by-side with retired Mesquite teachers on May 1st to sort and label books to be delivered to all Mesquite ISD first graders, and also assisted the retired teachers in delivering the books to the schools on May 3rd. Since 2015, the Mesquite Rotary Club has donated funds each year in support of the Mesquite Association of Retired School Employees’ Book Project.
On Saturday, April 27th, the Rotary Club of Waxahachie and the nonprofit "Sleep In Heavenly Peace" foundation partnered to build beds for children in Ellis County who did not have a bed in which to sleep. With the additional help of the Interact Clubs of Waxahahcie High School and Waxahachie Global High, plus a couple of church volunteers, the combined team built 44 beds for children that were identified as having the need for a bed.
After three years of hard work North Texas Pioneers has finally cut the ribbon on the House of Light Casa de Luz water purification project in the Dominican Republic. It’s a very rewarding feeling for our members and the citizens there to know they have clean safe water for the first time! Thanks to Bob Hill for his hard work on the project! to know everybody there has clean safe water now.
Commerce Rotary Club recently honored the top five percent of the senior, junior, sophomore and freshman classes at Commerce High School. Rotary hosted a special luncheon and awarded each student with a certificate recognizing their achievement.
Last year as a part of the Birthday Celebration for PDG C. C. Collie’s 100th birthday, a special scholarship was created in PDG C. C.’s name for a deserving member of the JROTC at Hillcrest H.S. This year the program was expanded, and two scholarships were awarded to two very accomplished students.
Rotary Club of Coppell had a fantastic event honoring our Foundation service and our CHS Interact Club. Our Rotary Interact club had a fabulous year of local and international service projects. Featured is a photo of their hard working executive board!
Duncanville Rotarians donated over 1,900 pairs of socks to The Stewpot, which is the #1 request for the homeless. The Club’s guest speaker was Buddy Jordan, a founding member of The Stewpot, Encore Park, and other missions relating to the First United Presbyterian Church.
The Rockwall Noon Rotary Club and the Rockwall High School Interact Club have a strong connection. Members of the Interact Club join the clubs meetings occasionally to meet up with our members.
Grand Prairie Metro Rotary was honored to serve hotdogs, chips, cookies, and more at this year's Memorial Day Celebration sponsored by Grand Prairie Parks, Arts, and Recreation.
The judges had a challenge, choose the 5 most deserving applicants among 37 scholarship applications. It was hard but 5 deserving students shined bright. Coppell Rotary celebrated 4 of those students at the CHS Senior Awards.
The Mesquite Rotary Club inducted another outstanding citizen into the Mesquite Rotary Grove of Honor at the site in DeBusk Park, adjacent to the Kidsquest playground, on May 7th. ASI Gymnastics owner Debi Holley was inducted for 2022 as the club continues catching up after the pausing of inductions during the pandemic.
PP Fred Brown and PP Karen Farris represented RCPC and signed the final beam for the new Health and Wellness Center at Bonton Farms. The Health and Wellness Center is the next phase in bringing essential service to this underserved neighborhood.
