Several large donations, including one for naming rights by a prominent Richardson couple, are helping accelerate construction and enhance the amenities available at Richardson’s first inclusive playground, located in Cottonwood Park. Construction on the project is estimated to begin in January 2019, with completion in mid-April 2019. The naming rights donation of $100,000 has been provided by Charles and Ann Eisemann, long-time community benefactors and prominent civic leaders.
When years ago the polio epidemic necessitated specific programs to treat the children, some of the pediatricians of the time did not want the children to dread coming to a place that smelled like a hospital. Their solution was to pop popcorn and keep popping it, so the children would be greeted by a much more appealing smell.
The Rotary Club of Carrollton-Farmers Branch in partnership with The City of Carrollton is raising money to purchase and install All Assessible Playground Equipment for the park located at Rosemeade Rec Center.
North Texas Pioneers Rotary brought some much needed Christmas cheer to the Plano Animal Shelter this season. Each member choose an angel off the tree and bought the items listed. They gathered many small beds for cats and small dogs, lots of toys, cat nip, dog and cat treats, cat litter, etc.... And many other items the shelter needs to keep all the sweet creatures comfortable.
Volunteers from the RYLA Student Advisory Group, RYLA Alumni, and the Dallas Trinity Rotary Club enjoyed their annual Angel Tree event at North Park Mall on November 25th--the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Historically, this particular Angel Tree, on this particular day, is the busiest Angel Tree in the nation. Our district is always well-represented, as volunteers offer smiling faces while they assist folks selecting angels to adopt, document angels that have been chosen, receive and safely store gifts as they are received, and answer questions all along the way. This annual experience is a holiday favorite for everyone involved.
