News From Around District 5810
District Governor Bill Slicker's March Message
All of us are still basking in the glow of our Mardi Gras Party Polio Fundraiser that was held on Saturday, February 16. The costumes, music & food were tremendous. A terrific time was had by over 200 attendees!

Thanks to the DGND Max Duplant for chairing the event and to Ean & Jan Sullivan as our Polio Plus Co-Chairs. If you haven't already, please send in your Polio Plus contributions to The Rotary Foundation. We need everyone's contribution as we continue our polio eradication campaign. Our contributions are multiplied as we band together as Rotarians.

The Rotary theme for March is Water and Sanitation Month.

Lonestar PETS started on Thursday. This is our preeminent training event for our President-Elects. We are thankful for their leadership.
THIS IS A GREAT DAY TO BE A ROTARIAN!

Successful “Dentists with a Heart Day” Event Assisted Area Citizens
Dental professionals and volunteers worked together for the benefit of area people in need at their 11th annual “Dentists with a Heart Day” on February 15th.   The event was sponsored by the Mesquite Rotary Club, and occurred at the Mesquite dental offices of Dr. Byron McKnight and Dr. Ken Taylor, who donated their services and facility for the day.  In a very successful effort, this team served over 50 area patients in need, providing them with life-changing care through free dental services that would normally have been worth a total of $55,000.  The patients were referred for the event from Sharing Life Ministries, Grace Place, International Church Street, Mesquite ISD, and even from people in need that the participating dentists had met throughout the year.
