You are invited to participate in the inaugural North Texas Mental Health Forum for individuals and organizations across Denton, Collin, Grayson, Tarrant, Cooke, Wise and Parker counties to be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 830am – 330pm at the Denton County Courthouse 2020 Room in Denton, Texas. This forum is being organized by the Suicide Prevention and Brain Health (SPBH) Rotary eClub (featured in Nov 2023 Rotary Magazine at https://www.rotary.org/en/hope-grief ) and the Denton County Suicide Prevention Coalition.
There is no charge for admission and lunch will be provided. We ask that you please register by scanning the QR code on the attached flyer or using the link https://NTXMentalHealthForum.eventbrite.com. Please share this invitation with your networks.

We will have a keynote speaker, panel discussion and roundtable discussions regarding access, affordability, stigma and resources related to mental/brain health, suicide prevention and support for survivors for all age ranges.

Our Keynote Speaker is Tammy Weppelman, MS, LPC-S, the founder of the Denton County L.O.S.S. (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors) Team who is now the Director of Suicide Prevention and Services for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. Ms. Weppelman’s presentation will be followed by a moderated panel discussion regarding mental health and related services with representatives from multiple disciplines across our identified counties. In the afternoon, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss identified topics during facilitated table discussions. We will then share the results of these discussions and observations with all attendees so that we can determine our path forward in collaborating and creating action plans to benefit our communities.

We will have a limited number of exhibitors/vendors showcasing some of the services that are available to our communities. If your organization is interested in having a vendor/exhibits table, please indicate this request when you register so that a planning team member can follow up with you. If there is no more availability for resource tables when you make your request, a counter will be available in the conference area where you can place materials to share. We recommend registering early to request a resource table. We are still seeking donations to cover the cost of food for the day since the event is offered at no cost to attendees or resource groups. Thanks to the eClub of North Texas for their donation to support this event.

A similar forum was held for NE Texas counties in Greenville in March 2023 (also co-sponsored by the SPBH Rotary eClub) where we had over 140 attendees. It is planned that both of these forums will continue to meet and collaborate to support their communities. Forums for additional counties are being discussed. 1 For more information and/or to volunteer for the event, please contact SPBH Rotary eClub President Shirley Weddle at swbrainhealth@gmail.com.
