The donation will benefit Blessed Assurance Home, which currently serves 32 residents, and West Haven Children’s Home, which is home to 91 residents. Many of these children and young adults live with conditions such as cerebral palsy, severe autism, Down syndrome, and spina bifida. With no families to care for them, they have become wards of the state and rely on these group homes for safety, care, and dignity.
The Carrollton-Farmers Branch Rotary has been supporting these two homes for more than 15 years through funds raised at its annual Halloween and Valentine’s Day sales. This year’s gift was delivered by Past District Governor and Past CFB President Regina Edwards, who toured both facilities and attended a Rotary meeting in Montego Bay. Looking ahead, the two clubs are exploring additional joint projects, including the renovation of a dormitory cottage at West Haven that is currently in disrepair and unavailable for use.
In recognition of Rotary International’s Basic Education and Literacy Month, the CFB club also donated 94 recycled books from Good Elementary in CFBISD to West Haven and the Montego Bay Learning Center, helping to enrich their libraries.
Each visit reaffirms why the club remains committed to these special children and young adults. By continuing its long-standing support, the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Rotary is making a lasting difference in the lives of some of the most vulnerable members of society.
