The month of May is a busy month for Collin County Rotarians! Collin County Rotary Club Crape Myrtle Trails, Online Auction, Rotary Youth Exchange, Flag Project and more!
On May 5, Allison Tinglov, Rotary Exchange Student 2016-17, was the guest speaker to tell about her experience as an exchange student to Switzerland. Because of the pandemic, the RYE was suspended for 2 years, but is now taking applications for exchange students.

On May 6, two Rotarians assisted with a massive distribution of Crape Myrtle plants to 27 elementary schools in McKinney for 5th graders to give to their mothers on Mother's Day. Lyle Froese and Steve Barotta helped with the delivery to Walker Elementary School in McKinney. Thanks to Neil and Lynn Sperry, we have beautiful crape myrtle trees in the medians of our streets and at our homes.

On May 19, Collin County Rotarians will kick off their online auction event benefitting StreetSide Showers at The Cotton Mill, 610 Elm St, McKinney, 5:30 to 7:00 PM. Tickets for the event for $20 will include 2 drinks and appetizers, and can be purchased at EventBrite.com. Contact Lenda Fidelman, President at (Lenda.Fidelman@fidelco.net) or Helen Gibson-Nicholas at (helen@hellogorgeous.com) for information about the 32Auctions site (32auctions.com/streetsideshowers).

Collin County Rotarians are partnering with the McKinney Sunrise Rotary Club to prep and install flag sleeves at homes, businesses, HOAs, and churches for the U.S. Flag Project in McKinney. Over 3,000 flags will be flying in McKinney for five flag holidays beginning with this Memorial Day weekend in May and ending with Veterans Day in November 2022. This is a major fundraiser for both clubs, and the McKinney Sunrise Rotary Club has raised over a million dollars over the past 20 years for non-profit organizations locally and globally. If you live in west McKinney in the Stonebridge and Eldorado neighborhoods, go to (McKinneySunriseRotary.org) and open the link to "Flag Lease" to purchase a flag lease for $50. For more information about the McKinney Sunrise Rotary Flag project, contact Jeff Caserotti at (Jcaserotti@yahoo.com).
