Taking a cue from the North Texas Food Bank’s Million Meal Challenge, Sarah Oliai, RCPC’s Fourth of July Parade Chair, created her own Million Meal Challenge.
The North Texas Food Bank has been the beneficiary of the Fourth of July Parade for about a decade. Since 2018 RCPC had donated a total of 738,000 meals from the Parade alone. Using the Food Bank’s estimate of three meals for every dollar donated, Sarah challenged the club this year to build the total to over a million meals.
With the help of our sponsors, Frost Bank and Oncore, and several double or triple matches it has been a resounding success. Also, it has been a lot of fun to see the totals rise every week. Although the Challenge continues through the Parade, the total by the middle of June was well over a million meals – and still growing!
