On April 24, 2025, members of the DeSoto Texas Rotary Club (Leon McCowan, Velma Davison, David Scott, and Rosa Hernandez) rolled up their sleeves and volunteered at the DeSoto Food Pantry, joining the fight against food insecurity in our community. During the day, Iris and Rhonda, leaders of the DeSoto Food Pantry, took time to show volunteers their daily routines and shared how they support and meet the needs of the community each week. Their dedication and leadership inspire everyone working to make a difference.

The Rotarians spent the day unpacking food, stacking shelves, bagging fresh vegetables, unloading boxes, and helping distribute food and essential items to families in greatest need. Families received household essentials, fresh vegetables, baked goods, eggs, meat, and other nutritious foods — ensuring that our most vulnerable neighbors have what they need to prepare healthy meals for their families.
The food crisis remains a serious issue, affecting countless families in America. Recognizing the urgency, DeSoto Texas Rotary and the DeSoto Food Pantry have partnered with a clear mission: to end hunger in our community.
Their teamwork, dedication, and compassion were evident throughout the day’s efforts. Together, we are making a real difference—one box, one bag, and one family at a time.
