My thoughts as we leave April are about the many great and useful activities that we experienced this past month. There was a wonderful gathering of the Foundation at TK’s Comedy Club in Addison. Great food and entertainment. Then the next day many of us met at Buffalo Creek for a golf scramble.
Good fun and fellowship. This was followed on Saturday by a collection of items for the Panhandle fire victims and thoughtful words by our Youth Exchange students and RYLA Counsellors. Very good food for thought. The District Conference was capped by a dinner and a fine sharing by Past Rotary International President John Germ, who, with his wife Judy, took part in all of the week’s activities.

It was super to gather with 200 or so Rotarians who joined in all or part of the District activities. It was especially super to support the recovery of the folks in the Panhandle with our outreach and giving, our Service Above Self.

But there was more to April. The Club Leadership Assembly served to produce the leaders of our clubs for the next year and beyond. Experienced District leaders facilitated the sessions with the expectation that the clubs will be even better than they are now – that goals will be set and dues paid in a timely manner, and that Rotarians will continue to serve communities and have FUN too.

And now It is May. It is time to plan for the next year, time to organize the club and the many possible activities that clubs do. It is also time to plan on attending the International Convention, to renew friendships with other attendees, and enjoy the world-wide flavor of Rotary.

We are creating hope in the world. We are making a difference!
