We’re almost through July and the Covis-19 pandemic continues cloud our horizons.  But, being true Rotarians, District 5810 continues to fight on.
Congratulations to all those who submitted applications for District Award, with special congratulations to those who brought back the trophies.  Now is the time to start working on an awards program for your club.
Rockwall Rotary Club had more than $10,000 unused from their Global Grant.  Working with RI staff, the excess funds were used to purchase much needed Personal Protection Equipment plus bags of food and other essentials for our friends in San Juan Del Sur in Nicaragua.

Congratulation to Mike Pugh and his team.  They’ve created a Virtual Youth Exchange with Spain and Switzerland next year.   Likewise Dana Mackison and his RYLA staff is not letting this pandemic get the best of them.  They’ve created a new program, RYLead, which not only helps the campers who missed this year’s camp but holds promise for future activities.

Kudos for PDG Bill Slicker. As a member of the RMDTI Board. They’ve taken the training event to a virtual format, and made it available to anyone interested.

Across District 5810, we saw club after club installing Old Glory at businesses and in neighborhoods to celebrate the 4th of July.  District Flag Chairman Bill Bexley (Carrollton-Farmers Branch) estimate District 5810 installs more than 8,000 per holiday.  What an impressive way to honor our Country and its Flag.
Speaking of honors, I would like to institute a new section in the monthly report.  If your club has lost a member since July 1, please forward that information to our Webmaster so we can create an obituary session to honor the Rotarians who have gone before us.
We’ve got hot weather ahead of us, so please take care of yourself and your loved ones.
