Hi all - I have had a good month visiting more clubs - I now have completed 49 of 60! One of the clubs I visited was the Rotary Club of Terrell - chartered in 1920. One of the members I have gotten to know is Linda Whiteside. According to RI, she has been a Rotary member since 1998 - but in reality she has been a member since the 1970s. Linda worked for Terrell State Hospital at the time and, once a week, she would play piano for the Rotary Club of Terrell on her lunch hour!

Her boss was a member of the club. This was back when women were not allowed to be members - so she had to leave as soon as the meeting started! She says that she was always back to work within an hour! She still plays piano for the club today.

I also met a new Rotarian at the Rowlett Rotary Club - REX! He greeted me out front of the Rowlett Chamber building when I arrived for their meeting. Karl Stupnik, the Club President, says that any club can borrow REX for their events - just take good care of him!

I also had a couple of early meetings last week - one of which was a drive to the club meeting in Royse City! A benefit of these early morning drives (besides meeting great people!) are the great sunrises that I get to see. Here is a picture of sunrise over Fate, TX - on the way to Royse City.
As we move into the month of November, let us focus on our foundation - The Rotary Foundation! On November 8, we will dedicate the whole CLE meeting to the basics of TRF - how to engage more members to give, district grants, global grants, easy ways to give to TRF, endowment and more! Please join us at Club Leadership Exchange for FREE training for your club. Please send 1 or 2 of your members!!!!! Meeting notices and reminders will be sent out.
It is hard to believe that the holidays are already upon us. Enjoy good times with your families and Unite For Good in your community! Happy Thanksgiving all!
YIR,
Mary
