We are already in the final quarter of the Rotary year! Our next big event is the District Conference scheduled for April 22 and 23.
April 22 will be our bowling tournament, bumper cars and other games outing at Pinstack in Irving. Dinner is included as well as the bowling essentials in your $55 fee. RI Director Suzi Howe has confirmed that she will be there that night. And, we have our first full bowling team made up of PDGs and one soon to be PDG! So, who can put together a team to beat the PDGs?
An exciting day is planned for Saturday April 23 at Brookhaven Country Club. Sunil Sharma, our official representative for RI President Shekhar Mehta, will start things off with a keynote address. Later in the day, in conjunction with Shekhar's theme this year of "empowering the girl" retired Sportscaster Dale Hansen will discuss abusive situations that continue to exist. Several other exciting speakers are being planned and will be announced as we receive final commitments from them. We will also conduct a service project to write personal thank you notes to the many people who are the eyes and ears that report suspected human trafficking situations. Finally, our annual business meeting as required by our Manual of Procedure will be held during the day on Saturday. Fee for attending our daytime session Saturday is also $55.
We will end the day on April 23 with our District Awards and Foundation Recognition Banquet. The CFB jazz band will provide entertainment. Be sure to get your club applications for awards in by April 8 and notify us who has been selected as your club Star member so that they may be recognized. All the information and forms needed can be found on the District webpage. Also, if you are a Major Donor, Bequest member, Paul Harris Society member or Arch Klumph member, we want to recognize you at the banquet. Be sure to reserve your seat for the night at $75 per person.
One final reminder, there will not be a Roundtable in April so that you will have more time available to attend our conference.
