Hello District 5810 Rotarians. Today, August 1 is a very special day for our family, as our eldest daughter Tara Callahan is getting married in Ft Worth to her true love, Sean Cartee. Jill and I are so happy for them, and we welcome the addition of Sean to our family. I can’t think of a better reason to miss the Rotary Multi District Training Institute in Pflugerville this weekend. Thank you, PDG Mary Bedosky, for filling in for me. I look forward to hearing all about RMDTI at next week’s Club Leadership Exchange.
We’ve made it through our first month, where I’ve been on the first dozen Rotary club visits. Each visit is a unique look at how the club conducts its business. My goal is to be informative without putting anyone to sleep. Remember, it’s not our job to tell any club how to be run but we are here to help you in any way that we can.

Also, I thank you for being so generous to Jill’s spousal project for the Senior Source. Not only did we have an outstanding group of Rotarians join us for the Beat the Heat events on July 11 and 25 where we gave out over 900 fans and air conditioners to seniors in need. We’ve also received donations towards this worthy cause of over $7000 including a tremendous boost with a grant from my company’s Famers Insurance Foundation.

Our first CLE is scheduled for next Saturday morning at the Dallas campus for East Texas A&M, 8750 Northpark Central from 9:30 – Noon. We are at a more central location for our clubs in the southern areas of our district. Please join us to “Create Lasting Impact” as we share some new ideas that will benefit your club.

Yours in Rotary,

Mike
