Due to the coronavirus epidemic, some activities may be moved or canceled. Please check then local Rotary club’s website to confirm Meeting times and events.

Roundtable for Saturday , March 14 is canceled.
The reality of major events being cancelled such as the NBA season, Final Four spectators being banned and the Houston Rodeo suspending operations mid-event has happened, and the National attention to the Coronavirus forces us to make some hard decisions locally. While North Texas has very few cases, we must proceed with caution.

A.   CLUB MEETINGS
Clubs must make their own decision about meeting. Consider the age And vulnerability of your members when you are deciding to meet. If you cancel a meeting,  it does not affect perfect attendance. If you decide to meet and let everyone  else make their own decision about attending, then those Rotarians can make up within a year or attend an e-club meeting. As for social and service projects, again, just be cautious and safe.  One or two clubs have already canceled some events  for safety.

Please Note: If you make any cancellations , please reflect it on your club website and Facebook pages.

B.   DISTRICT ACTIVITIES
While North Texas has very few cases, the outbreak is expected and they are asking everyone to exercise caution.  We will find  new ways to communicate and keep the Rotary  Spirit and projects going, but we must join our national and local health advisors, and listen to their  warnings.  Rotary  International  is asking us to  proceed cautiously.

1. Roundtable  for March 14, this Saturday, is canceled.  You  may  get a higher number of emails from District Leaders as we communicate Important  Happenings. The April meeting certainly could be canceled, but we will have more information from local health authorities by then.

2. Our fun-filled Gala may be postponed, if we can find a new date for it. We are working with the venue and DGE John to see what we can do. So hold on to your feathers and fedoras... we may have a new date, but it probably cannot happen in March.

3. DGE John is seeking an alternative date for District Assembly. When we hear from the venue, we will let everyone know. It is still extremely important that your club officers and committee chairs come to this. A New date will be forthcoming.

4. District Conference in April May be affected as well. I’ll send out a new plan once we talk to all involved.

5. We are staying tuned to advice regarding our International Conference in Hawaii.but it is not until JUne, and perhaps we will have a clearer picture of what is possible by then.

Team, I know this seems like it is not real, because our area has not felt the impact. But the projections are worrisome, and our Rotarians’ health must be protected so we can continue to “Connect the World” with our leadership, service and goodwill to all.

Thanks for your understanding. Do what right for you individually and your club- only you can decide what is right for you and your community. Our new vision statement starts with TOGETHER, and we will get through this unique Global event together.

Let’s pray our precautions pay off with only a mild impact of this virus. I cherish every Rotarian in our amazing District, so Stay well... you are needed.

In Rotary,
