District 5810, despite having a generous year of sharing Local and world-wide grants, scrambled to identify any surplus funds that could be used to help during the Crisis. It was decided that local food distribution points needed help, and a challenge was issued to the clubs, allowing for a matching grant.
In 10 days, 16 clubs responded, often contributing more than the District match. Over$43,000 were contributed, resulting in about 130,000 meals to distribute to needy North Texans. Rotarians are making cloth masks for distribution, and finding ways to continue providing service through acts of kindness- a gift card of thanks to grocery store worker, a shopping trip for an elderly neighbor, or immobilizing a driver team to deliver donated meals to hungry school children’s families. Rotary 5810 is staying “”connected “ to the world, our communities and our own neighborhoods.
