Three years ago, the McKinney Rotary Club pledged a $100,000 matching grant to Direction 61:3 to build a home for young adults aging out of foster care. Last week, we broke ground on the first home.
On September 18, 2025, Direction 61:3 took a historic step forward by breaking ground on its new homes for young adults aging out of foster care. With shovels in hand, community members, volunteers, and supporters gathered to celebrate the start of a project that will provide not only safe housing, but also a foundation of hope, stability, and opportunity.

The McKinney Rotary Club helped make this moment possible by kicking off the capital campaign in 2022 with a $100,000 matching grant. Their generosity sparked momentum and showed the power of community partnerships in making lasting change. Consequently, the first home on the Direction 61:3 Farm will be called the McKinney Rotary Home.

The celebration was filled with smiles, applause, and a shared vision for brighter tomorrows. Attendees signed a beam that will be proudly displayed in the completed home, and the home's future residents, two young men who are thriving in the Direction 61:3 program, were in attendance as well. As construction begins, Direction 61:3 looks forward to welcoming youth into a place they can truly call home.
