Mesquite Rotary president John Taylor has sent donation checks of $500 each to support the work of Sharing Life Community Outreach and Mesquite Social Services during this time of the coronavirus crisis.
Taylor is also encouraging all members of the club, and community members who can do so, to donate money, canned goods, hand sanitizer, masks, and other such materials to either or both of those organizations as they really need help now.

Sharing Life’s Executive Director and CEO Teresa Jackson said that Sharing Life is grateful for the support of the Mesquite Rotary Club.  A gift of $500 allows the organization to provide 1,500 meals to families in need.  At this time the demand for nutritious food is greater than ever before, since so many neighbors in the community aren’t receiving a paycheck due to the ramifications of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jackson also noted that because of donations like this one, they are able to provide for the needs of hundreds of families each week. Their food boxes contain shelf stable items like canned fruits and vegetables, dried beans and rice, cereal and other staples. Each food box is accompanied by bags filled with meat, dairy, and fresh produce.
