On August 18 members of White Rock Rotary Club welcomed three visitors to their Monday morning breakfast meeting. Our AG John Johnstone dropped in to eat and have fun with us early in the new action year as we conducted our usual business of serving our community.
Our two other visitors were part of the team running an amazing program that serves a diverse community at the Vickery Meadows Youth Development Foundation:
Dr. Janet Morrison-Lane (sitting at the head of the table) is the Director of the EAGLE Scholars college readiness program that is a year-round program where 93% of Scholars go directly into college after high school with an average of $14,000 in financial aid and 71% graduate from a four-year university.
Valeria Morales, (siting to the right of Dr. Morrison-Lane) Development Manager, is giving back to her hometown community where she attended the local schools. As a child, Valeria had many mentors in the Vickery Meadow community that inspired the drive to develop her full potential. Some of these mentors came from the EAGLE Scholars summer program she attended as a student.
The Foundation is looking for volunteers and donations. Feel free to visit their website at Meet the Team | Vickery Meadow Youth Development Foundation
