Despite the cold weather an enthusiastic crowd filled Snider Plaza on November 18 for the twelfth annual University Park Tree Lighting. The Tree Lighting is a project of the Rotary Club od Park Cities and the Snider Plaza Merchant’s Association.
Even before the event took place it had brought in $30,000 in donations and sponsorships to benefit the North Texas Food Bank, one of RCPC’s strategic partners.  Throughout the event there were live performances on the main stage, a beverage garden, food vendors, and lots of children’s activities including bounce houses and photo opportunities with Santa Claus.  Along with members of RCPC, members of the Hillcrest High School Interact Club, which RCPC sponsors, were volunteers at the event.  The afternoon ended with the lighting of the Christmas tree.   This is one of the Rotary Club of Park Cities’ signature events to bring the community together, to raise money to benefit a recipient consistent with their goal of fighting hunger, and to raise awareness of Rotary.
