It’s finally fall; the weather is inviting. The Rotary Club of Park Cities continues to have informative and interesting speakers, but the club is taking it a step further.  Our always happy President Elect Happy Franklin has been planning field trips to some of the locations represented by our speakers.
When Mary Pat Higgins, the President and CEO of the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum came to speak, she invited the members to visit the museum as soon as it opened again.  The museum opened in September and the members of RCPC accepted her invitation.  Three tours of ten people each were arranged to comply with social distancing.  Mary Pat Higgins led the tours herself.  Everyone who went said that everyone should go if they haven’t been already.

In April John DeFillipo, Director of the John Bunker Sands Wetlands Center, spoke on the Center, its history and value, as well as the many plants and animals that have found homes there, including a nesting pair of eagles.  He, too, invited the members to visit the Center, but in April it wasn’t possible.  He returned to speak on water conservation in September and repeated his invitation. This time the club could accept and arranged a Saturday morning visit.  The tour started with some explanation inside, but then moved outside to view the Center.

These two tours have been such a success, that in November the members will be visiting the Dallas Arboretum for a tour and lunch.  It will be a great way to start the holidays and some welcome fellowship with our fellow club members.
