The receipts have been gathered and the bills have been paid.  The proceeds from the twelfth annual Univeristy Park Tree Ligting in Snider Plaza on November 18, 2018, have been calculated.  Despite the inclement weather, the event generated $10,000.00, through sponsorships and contributions, to be donated to the North Texas Food Bank.
The Tree Lighting is one of the Rotary Club of Park Cities’ signature events to bring the community together, to raise money to benefit a recipient consistent with their goal of fighting hunger, and to raise awareness of Rotary.

This is just the latest collaboration in the long-standing partnership between RCPC and the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB).  After several years of working with the NTFB, in 2015 it became obvious that the NTFB needed a way to bring food to neighborhoods where the families had limited transportation.  RCPC pledged to raise the money to buy a mobile food pantry – and by the end of 2015 presented the NTFB with the funds for a fully equipped truck to help distribute food, including fresh produce, to the many food deserts that exist in Dallas and its surrounding counties.  The mobile pantry is able to bring outreach, such as food stamps and nutrition education, as well. However, RCPC’s commitment does not end with financial support. RCPC members pack food at the NTFB several times a year and continue to work with the mobile pantry on a regular schedule to distribute food to needy families.  This collaborative partnership will last well into the future.
