Some caring Rotarians in Rockwall reached out to spread a little cheer for Valentine’s Day. They created hundreds of homemade Valentine’s Day cards for seniors living in local nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
The cards mean a lot to the elderly residents, who because of COVID-19 restrictions have been isolated with limited visitation for nearly a year.

Some of the cards were fancy and elaborate, others were simple and sweet, but the overall message for each was the same: We care about you! Out of safety concerns, the Rotary group was unable to hand deliver the special Valentine’s Day cards to the residents as they do every year, and relied on caregivers and staff to deliver them instead. The card givers report that the best part of the heartwarming annual project is watching the smiles brighten the faces of the ladies and gentlemen who receive the cards, and of course the thankful hugs that follow.
