This past Saturday morning about 40 people turned out for our very uplifting and successful Peace Pole Dedication Ceremony including about 20 members from our Club, 1 past District Governor (John Curtis), and 3 Frisco City Council Members (Angelia Pelham, Laura Rummel, and Burt Thakur)!

A global objective for Rotary International is to Promote World Peace, and the Peace Pole Project is one path toward achieving that goal. While there are approximately 250,000 Peace Poles around the world in about 180 countries, until yesterday, there wasn't one in our North Texas area. Frisco is now the first city to have a Peace Pole in Rotary District 5810 which includes 8 North Texas counties.
The Peace Pole Ceremony could not have happened at a more important time given all that's happening in the world, and we are just getting started. We have budgeted for two more Peace Poles in Frisco this year.
Our Club has been asked to provide an update to the Mayor and City Council about our Club's Peace Pole Initiative at an upcoming City Council Meeting - - this will help build awareness of our Club and the important service work that we do!
