Springtime in White Rock triggers one of our main community projects for White Rock Rotary Club – Planting the Sisters’ Garden. Members look forward to this time each year. Here you can see Rotarian Ed Schaefer with gloved hands as he consults with owners of the garden to make the best efforts for planting seeds. The project as evolved from planting vegetables to one of beautification in a fairly barren area. It is also a fun time for all involved when they get to gather with old friends and make new ones.
We continued working on our seasonal projects beyond just planting the garden. We invited Mr. Darren Collins in April to bring his puppet show and share breakfast with us at one of our meetings. The puppet is used as communication tool to help children in Kenya develop health hygiene habits under trying circumstances. Darren returned to visit with us and give an update on his project as he discuss the effectiveness of his strategy.
