The Plano East Rotary Club has stayed active during the last 3 month.  We have had ZOOM meetings every week and many programs via that medium.
As an example, Thursday, May 28 we will be having the newly appointed Chief of Police as our program.  One thing I would like to ask is that all the clubs in our district take a look and LIKE/ pass on the video that our club and DeSoto club helped sponsor.  Darrin Collins is a puppeteer who created a video that shows children how to properly wash their hands and get along in the difficult Covid 19 times.  It is a cute video and kids love it. The government of Kenya and now Somalia has asked him to help out in their efforts to control the virus.  He was one of our programs (it was 1:30 AM Kenya time, but he was with us via ZOOM)   He is making a very positive impact both in our community in North Texas and Kenya. Now he is expanding to Somalia. Please see his note to us below.  You may remember the picture in the last newsletter.

"I’m glad it made an impact.  I think now is the time to get into more clubs.  Can you strategize how we can best make this happen?

Also, last night we had a meeting in regards to our next five covid-19 videos for Somalia. Somalia is getting hit really hard.  Also, precious little content for children exists there. We are doing physical and mental health videos that are about 3x longer than our Kenyan series.  Things are going well except somewhere along the line there was a budgeting error on the side of the people who are hiring us. We need another $2000 to make the series look great. (Essentially the partners from WorldVision, Save the Children, Oxfam and the Somali group simply didn’t budget for building a set.)

Can you help us boost the signal to get $2000 for building a re-usable set piece?  We’ve managed to secure a donation to use a large studio (not ours with the leaky roof) and we have ample money to pay our puppeteers but the project isn’t going to “look good” without some serious set building. Any thoughts on quickly getting $$ would help. These partners are too big to kick in anything quickly or redraft their original budget."
