Organized by RCPC member Holly Hollenbeck, the third annual Foot Care Clinic for the Homeless took place on Saturday, September 30, at Austin Street Center. RCPC volunteers helped direct the clients, hand out the new shoes, socks and foot care packets and preparing the foot care tubs. Volunteer nursing students washed and cared for the feet of the homeless.
They were also given a health screening, with some being referred for further medical treatment. Soles for Souls donated shoes, and Scheels donated socks. A grant from the RCPC Foundation funded the nail files, clippers, lotion and antibiotic ointment for the foot care packets, as well as other supplies. It is hoped that with the comfort this provides that they will remember every time they tie their new shoelaces that someone cares.
