The Melissa Rotary Club solicited the community for items to pack into comfort kits for our veterans at the Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham, which provides first-class long-term care for up to 160 residents, including up to 32 Alzheimer's residents. The community responded and we were able to pack over 80 bags to take to the residents.
We also had extra items that the staff can distribute as needed. We worked with the Melissa ISD students that are part of the DAEP program. DAEP is a Disciplinary Alternative Education Program designed to serve students in grades 6-12 who have been removed from their home campus for a specific period of time due to severe or repeated violations of the Melissa ISD Student Code of Conduct. Working with the principle of the program we provide a positive opportunity to the student to serve.
