Finding a unique way to say “thank you” to our family, friends and neighbors who have served, or are currently serving, in the armed forces is a constant effort.  The Commerce Rotary Club would like to provide a venue whereby you can do just that.

Beginning this November, The Commerce Rotary Club will begin a new tradition in our community.  A venue will be provided for businesses, families and individuals to say “thank you” to those who protect our freedom – the Veterans of Hunt County.
Held at Commerce City Park, the field will be transformed into a moving tribute to service personnel, living and deceased, domestic and abroad.  This powerful installation will be in place from November 9 thru November 16, 2019 with an opening ceremony being held at 6:00 pm on November 8th.  A field of 100 3’ X 5’ flags will provide the public the ability to circulate among the display as they read individual stories of the brave women and men who truly put “Service Above Self”(Rotary’s motto) as they provide for our protection and freedom. Each flag will have a placard attached that will tell the story of the veteran and a reference guide will alert you as to where your flag is on the field.  It is a moving experience that is both collective and personal.

The Rotary Club of Commerce is grateful to the Plano East Rotary Club for the inspiration and to our generous community sponsors who have made it possible for us to offer this tribute at no charge to our veterans or their families. We’d love to encourage you to come out to the Commerce City Park and participate in this moving tribute!
