As many of you know, February’s is Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention Month. Rotary has been dedicated to peace building since the early days of Rotary and Paul Harris was a major leader for this. Rotary International President-elect R. Gordon R. McInally announced his theme for the 2023-24 Rotary year, “Create Hope in the World”. He explained that the goal is to restore hope to help the world heal from destructive conflicts and to help achieve lasting change. He emphasized the need for peace and continuity, including work to empower women and work toward diversity, equity, and inclusion, while not neglecting our mission to end polio.

As a global humanitarian organization, Rotary continually takes action to help communities in need. The Rotary Foundation has established two temporary funds to support immediate relief efforts in Pakistan and Ukraine.
The Opa's Gluehwein fundraiser was started in December 2020 by Drs. Beth & Hubert Zajicek, as a fun and safe way to enjoy the Christmas lights in a time when it seemed like fun was "outlawed".
The Addison Rotary Club and the Addison Midday Rotary Club hosted a community wide pancake breakfast to honor first responders and raise funds for the Santa's Heroes program run by the Addison Fire and Police Departments, respectively. A check for $1,900 was presented to David Jones, Addison Fire Chief on January 10.
Daybreak Greenville packaging hygiene kits. These kits will be utilized for the homeless who visit the weekly mobile shower provided by United Way of Hunt County.
Fifteen of our Richardson Rotary Club members met at The Network of Community Ministries Volunteer area at Noon on January 30th. We spent the next hour boxing up food to be provided to Network’s clients. Another 5th Monday opportunity to volunteer and socialize for a great cause.
White Rock Rotary had a blast serving over 100 refugees at St. Patrick's. The refugees were from several different countries. They really enjoyed their lunch!

The Duncanville Interact Club collected and donated 1,633 books weighing 506 pounds for the District Conference Service Cruise. The K-5 books will be delivered to Cozumel, Mexico and the 6-12th grade books will be delivered to Roatan, Honduras at the District Conference Service Cruise in April.

Wylie East Fork Rotarian Charlie Waller is participating in the "Ride for Rotary in India" which is a fundraiser to raise money for polio! Charlie has sent photos of his fellow Rotarians and friends he's made on his journey through India on his motorcycle. According to Ride for Rotary, he will finish his adventure this weekend in Mangalore.
3-day eviction notices were issued, and court date set until the Dallas Rotary Club Foundation "Kidwell/Cooper Grant" provided emergency assistance and stopped the evictions for two families!

Happy 100th Birthday, C. C.! It was a wonderful evening honoring a distinguished and very special member, PDG C.C. Collie! RCPC members, his family, and other special guests assembled at Lakewood Country Club on December 15 for this Holiday and Birthday Party.
White Rock Rotary members and friends assisted with a mailing for White Rock Rock Center of Hope, an amazing non profit that aids the needy in northeast Dallas with clothing, food, and rent assistance. It was a 'sit down' job that needed to be done at short notice. White Rock Rotary was glad to help. The group of volunteers was treated to a tour of the updated facility after helping.
