From the time a man or woman enlists in the military, through their days as a veteran, the heavy loads they carry – from the travel costs to spend time with family, to accessing to high quality medical care, to jobs that allow them to best use the skills developed during service when they return to civilian life - should be a shared responsibly of all Americans. That’s why a group of Rotary Club of Dallas members decided 14 years ago to do something to support these men and women and thus, Salute to America’s Veterans was born.

Grand Prairie Metro Rotary just completed their 32nd Annual Lake Joe Pool 5K 10K Pumpkin Run fund raiser on the 13th. In spite of the weather, they had over 1,100 runners! Also included was pumpkin decorating for the kids as well as face-painting!
On October4th, the McKinney Rotary Club celebrated its 100th year of service in the city. “We are so fortunate to have a Rotary Club that is active and engaged in our community,” Lisa Hermes, president of the McKinney Chamber of Commerce, said in a news release from the Rotary Club. “As they celebrate their centennial anniversary, it’s really a celebration of the dedicated men and women who roll up their sleeves and serve not only our community but people and places around the world.” Adding to the celebration, was the recipient of a Texas Senate Resolution for the Centennial and a proclamation naming Oct 4., 2018 as "Rotary Club of McKinney Day".
On Oct. 12, Addison Rotarians volunteered to feed guests at the Ronald McDonald House in Dallas. They love what this organization stands for and enjoyed being able to make a difference!
Some members of White Rock Rotary organized and helped serve lunch for about 200 refugees from Burma and various African countries last Sunday at St. Patrick's Church. The refugees enjoyed their meal and the Rotarians shared in the happy vibe, as you can see!
President Bob Wales and members of the Rotary Club of Melissa were on hand at this week's City Council meeting to present a check for $4,000 to the Melissa Fire Department in support of a new KNOX Home Box program being launched in the coming weeks.

The Rotary Club of Cedar Hill annual 1,000.00 polio donation from the club's annual Head For The Hills Bike Rally. The check was presented to District Govenor Bill Slicker during his club visit. They celebrated at the Museum of International Cultures in Duncanville.
Dentistry With a Heart is a collaborative project between the Rotary Club of Park Cities, Agape Clinic, volunteer dentists and hygienists, and student dentists from the Texas A&M College of Dentistry. It was begun ten years ago by the three dentists who were members of RCPC to provide free dental care to people who could not otherwise afford it. Among the thousands of dollars worth of services provided include cleanings, fillings, extractions, root canals and partials.
The Mesquite Rotary Club presented a donation of $2,500 to the Mesquite Association of Retired School Employees book project at their meeting on October 2ndt. In accepting the check from Rotary president-elect John Taylor, MARSE president Elaine Whitlock expressed her thanks for Rotary’s assistance, and noted that the funds would greatly support the project’s goal of providing a book of their own to each Mesquite ISD first grader.
