Hello to my fellow District 5810 Rotarians. August has been a very busy month for our clubs and district. We began the month by sending many of our district officers to the Rotary Multi District Training Institute in Pflugerville. RMDTI offers some excellent training for all types of positions on both the club and district levels.
We followed that weekend with our first Club Leadership Exchange of the year. Andy McNally of the Preston Trail club did a great job explaining how to use the new software to apply for Global Grants and District Designated Funds. If you missed it and are interested in learning about this process, please let one of us know. The focus of this month’s CLE will be on membership. Our new membership director, Susan Plonka, will present a few ideas from RI that you will find beneficial. I recommend that all club Presidents and Membership Chairs attend.
Congratulations to all those clubs and Rotarians that were awarded at the Emerald City Awards Celebration on Friday, August 21. It was an amazing event and a great way to top off the year for some many District 5810 Rotarians. As always, PDG Mary and her team did an incredible job.
As of this weekend, I’ve visited twenty-four clubs. I’m amazed at some of the projects and the money that is raised by our Rotarians. You continue to Create lasting Impact in our communities. You’ve also contributed more than $10,000 so far for Jill’s spousal project. The Silver Sunami is here and we’re trying to help the Senior Source meet the challenges that seniors face every day.
Please join us for the next CLE, scheduled for Saturday morning, September 12, 2026 at the Dallas campus for East Texas A&M, 8750 Northpark Central from 9:30 – Noon.
Yours in Rotary,
Mike
