More than 200 walkers joined together in North Texas to support Rotary’s global effort to eradicate polio. On October 24, District 5810 Rotarians and community supporters gathered at Brookhaven Main Campus in Farmers Branch to take part in the World’s Largest Polio Walk in recognition of World Polio Day.

With more than 200 walkers participating and $25,000 raised, District 5810 demonstrated the power of a community united behind a common cause.

Participants came together to raise awareness, support Rotary’s polio eradication efforts, and help protect children around the world from a disease that remains a global health threat.

Walking Together to End Polio

The World’s Largest Polio Walk brought Rotary clubs and communities together across Zones 25B and 29. Throughout seven states, 16 districts and 444 clubs participated in this coordinated effort to raise awareness and funds for polio eradication.

District 5810’s $25,000 fundraising achievement contributed to the regional effort, which is on track to raise more than $1.2 million.

Rotary’s longstanding partnership with the Gates Foundation helps multiply eligible contributions to polio eradication through a 2-to-1 match, increasing the impact of donations in the fight to End Polio Now.

One Step Closer to a World Without Polio

Polio eradication is one of Rotary International’s signature global initiatives. Thanks to decades of commitment from Rotarians and their partners, tremendous progress has been made, but continued awareness, fundraising, and vaccination efforts remain essential to finishing the job.

Thank you to everyone who walked, donated, volunteered, sponsored, or helped organize the District 5810 event. Your generosity and commitment are helping bring the world closer to a future where no child will ever have to suffer from polio.
