Grand Prairie Metro Rotary recently collaborated on an international project aimed at benefiting the community in Puruándiro, Michoacan.
The goal was to aid the non-profit organization "Emergencia Radio Auxilio Voluntario Puruándiro AC," which currently operates with a single ambulance constantly in need of repair. That lone ambulance handles around 60 cases per month, but the demand exceeds its capability, leaving approximately 90 cases per month unresolved due to the lack of vehicles.
This joint project between the Grand Prairie Metro Rotary Club, the Grand Prairie Fire Department, and the Club Rotario Puruándiro D4140 will have a significant impact on a population of approximately 70,000 inhabitants and 44 communities that currently lack a sufficient number of functional ambulances (currently only five in the entire city).
The 2019 Ford F450 ambulance was picked up in Grand Prairie in December and delivered by members of the Puruandiro club. The ambulance was the centerpiece of a parade held in the community with one Grand Prairie Metro Rotarian in attendance.
