The District 5810 Nominating Committee is proud to announce that Michael Pugh is our new District Governor Nominee Designate!  Michael will serve as District 5810 Governor for the 2028-29 Rotary year, following Dawn Gulley.

Michael is a retired Senior Program Director in Healthcare IT and has been deeply involved in Rotary since 1985, starting in Tulsa, OK, with the Sunrise Rotary Club. Over the years, he has held numerous leadership roles, including International Director, and was honored as Rotarian of the Year. A highlight of his time in Tulsa was hosting a Youth Exchange student from Latvia, which further fueled his passion for international youth exchange.

In the early 90s, Michael had the privilege of leading a six-person Group Study Exchange (GSE) team to Thailand—an experience that was both rewarding and enlightening. After moving to Dallas in 1995, he joined the Addison Rotary Club, where he held many club leadership roles and served as Club President from 2008–2009. Michael was named Addison Rotary Club Rotarian of the Year twice—once in 2018–2019 and again in 2024–2025.

As a graduate of the Rotary International Leadership Institute and a Paul Harris Fellow +3, Michael continually sought to grow and give back to Rotary in meaningful ways. He also had the honor of leading a second GSE team, this time to India in 2010, a rare opportunity few Rotarians experience.

For over 25 years, Michael has been actively involved in Rotary’s Youth Exchange program. He currently serves as the Youth Exchange Officer for District 5810, part of SCRYE (South Central Rotary Youth Exchange), which connects 35 districts across 19 states. In 2024, he was selected as President of SCRYE for a two-year term, serving through 2026.

Since 2007, Michael has been a dedicated Ambassador for ShelterBox and was among the first in Texas to serve in this role. His ongoing commitment to ShelterBox reflects his strong belief in Rotary’s mission to make a meaningful difference in communities worldwide.

Please join me in congratulating Michael on his next step in Rotary leadership!
