Five of the students that the Mesquite Rotary Club sent to this year’s Rotary District 5810 Youth Leadership Award Camp in June paid a visit to the club’s regular meeting on October 8th. The club members heard from each of them about how they had learned so much and gained so many new friends from the intense one-week experience.  Student after student emphasized the life-changing, positive lessons, new perspectives on and experiences with leadership, and strong new friendships that come from the experience.
The students that the club sent to Camp RYLA this year from Mesquite High School were Anthony Alexander, Emilia Mancilla, Janaya Winston, and Grace Dodd.  North Mesquite High School students who attended the camp included Isabella Alfonzo and Mariany Rojas.

Vocational Service Director Dr. LaDonna Gulley chaired the Camp RYLA committee this past year, and supervised and coordinated the entire process, from conducting student interviews to transporting the students to and from the camp.  Lindsay Paris assisted with the selection process and assisted with transporting the students.  Mark Kerby and Brad Davis also assisted in transporting the students.
