On Juneteenth, June 19, Plano Metro Rotary Community Service chair, June Jenkins presented checks to two essential community service organizations.
Hope Restored Missions exists to restore hope to those oppressed by the circumstances and tragedies of their lives. Their focus is on the homeless and those facing housing insecurities. They did a couple projects this year with HRM. The check was accepted by Brenda McGee. Located 1947 K Ave #B100, Plano.
The African American Museum of Plano is nestled in the historic Douglass Community, one of the most diverse cities in Texas. The Museum was initially formed in 2002 and celebrated its soft open June 17, 2023. Jason Morgan of the museum accepted thier check. For the entire month of June, the Plano African American Museum will host an exhibition in honor of Black Music Month by University of North Texas professors, Susannah Cleveland and Maristella Feustle called "Sound Testimony" and Tee Noell Rose "Messages from the Mothership". Public visiting hours are 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday.
