In the month of December Rotary Club of Park Cities members searched their closets and donated unwanted, but gently worn, shoes. Some members also started shoe collection at work or in their neighborhoods.
They donated 473 pairs of shoes, diverting 591.25 pounds from landfills, and extended the lifespan of the shoes. They also generated $4,280.65 in economic opportunity for families and communities worldwide through the Soles4Souls’ 4Opportunity and 4Relief programs. The families can resell the shoes, aiding them to access essentials and education. The donated shoes will also support five months of consistent quality food, housing, and education for families in countries like Haiti and Honduras.
